A lovely, bright, cheerful hand-painted fruit bowl by Myott. This dates from the Art Deco period. Each stroke of paint is clear and defined from the soft blues of the scalloped edge to the browns and oranges of the big flower painted in the centre of the bowl.

Fully back-stamped Myott Son & Co. England. Hand painted. 8583 (Pattern number). Condition is excellent. Some minor paint flake in one or two places.

Myott has a seductive sense of mystery around it. The designers are currently not identified as many crucial records, possibly including pattern books, were destroyed in a fire in 1949. As research develops the pieces are becoming increasingly collectable. Myott is a wonderful investment for those with a taste for art deco -1930s funky pieces!
