Myott Gallery

The Myott Pottery is a particularly interesting area for collectors. Established by two brothers in 1898 the pottery produced a range of styles and forms under the Myott name until 1991. Aware of the success of contemporaneous potteries that employed designers such as Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper, Myott began to produce Art Deco wear in the 1930's. It is these pieces which are currently very collectable.

Myott has a seductive sense of mystery around it as the designers are currently not identified and many crucial records, possibly including pattern books, were destroyed in a fire in 1949. As research develops the pieces are becoming increasingly collectable. Myott is a wonderful and astute investment for those with a taste for art deco and an interest in owning pieces as the story of Myott unfolds. An interesting account of the history of Myott and helpful book can be found here
